Our center is committed to providing essential services, support, and a sense of community to Ukrainian refugees seeking safety and stability in these turbulent times.

Founding Principles

The Centre was founded to provide practical support to address the
immediate needs of Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion of their country.

Founded by three churches with significant help from additional volunteers, the Centre is open to serve all refugees from Ukraine irrespective of faith, gender, age or race. Expressly, it is not an evangelical organisation founded for religious purposes.

The Centre’s Mission

Scoped out by members of the founding team, there was unanimity that the
centre’s mission would be to:

Provide social, educational and material help for Ukrainians in need;

Be a safe, welcoming space offering positive social interaction;

Augment the basic services provided by local authorities such as EVAM;

Respect the dignity of all visitors and seek to involve them in the management and running of the Centre.

Establishing The Centre

Key services were agreed:

Creation of a social space;
Provision of psycho-social counselling;
Provision of language lessons (French & English);
Collection and distribution of clothes and personal items;
Provision of advice on employment, local life and administration;
Offer various recreational activities especially for young people and children.

We explore a world of color and creation in our Arts and Crafts circle, designed to inspire every young artist

Career advice

We help expand career horizons with insightful advice, unlocking new opportunities and pathways to success

Advice bureau

Our Advice Bureau is dedicated to aiding refugees, offering guidance and resources to help them overcome obstacles and build a stable future

Dance

Step into the rhythm with our children's Dance program, where every move fosters confidence, creativity, and the joy of movement.

Fitness

We help adults achieve their health and fitness goals with personalized programs that invigorate the body and uplift the spirit

Where we are now

We have flexibility to structure our activities to meet the evolving needs of the growing Ukrainian community;

The community at the Centre is well led and organised by its competent and committed leaders;

Partnerships with Ukraine Reborn and other organisations are proving fruitful and have real potential to address identified needs of the community.

Operational Constraints

We have been funded specifically to provide these services as part of an emergency humanitarian effort to help Ukrainians who have fled the war;
Our volunteers have signed up to help us accomplish our stated mission;
Fund-raising for other, non-core activities will be hard;
The future of the war is unknown. The possibility remains of large intakes of Ukrainians needing significant resources to be deployed by the Centre;
Swiss government support for Ukrainian refugees is reducing to bring it in line with its treatment of other refugees and the Swiss social services.

and offered refreshments to hundreds of visitors at our Centre, creating a welcoming and nurturing environment.

We organized over 100 educational classes for children, providing a sense of stability and growth during challenging times;
Conducted 280 language classes in French and English, essential for integration and empowerment;
Distributed Christmas gifts to children, filling their hearts with joy and warmth during the festive season;
And offered refreshments to hundreds of visitors at our Centre, creating a welcoming and nurturing environment.
